COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKS WEEK 5 EXPERT PICKS, 2020: BARRETT SALLEE’S THREE BEST BETS REVEALED

CBS Sports analyst Barrett Sallee shares his three college football Picks best bets every week with SportsLine.

When it comes to college football, there are few who deserve the “expert” tag quite like Barrett Sallee. The CBS Sports writer and analyst hosts shows on SiriusXM College, writes for CBSSports.com and appears regularly on CBS Sports HQ as well as countless radio shows across the nation as a guest.

Sallee debuted with SportsLine in 2017 and has delivered in a BIG way, posting a winning record in his weekly best bets column since that point. He went 59-35-2 (63 percent, plus $2,037) on all his college football picks for SportsLine in 2019, and he also enters Week 5 of the 2020 college football season on a 48-26 streak on his best bets since the start of last year. Anybody who has been following him is WAY UP.

Now, he’s turned his attention to the Week 5 college football schedule and is revealing his three top plays. We can tell you Sallee is backing Oklahoma (-7 at William Hill) on the road against Iowa State at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.

“Sure, Oklahoma’s defense is dreadful,” Sallee said. “But I’m not going to believe that the Cyclones suddenly figured it out after gaining just 423 yards and a 3 of 11 performance on third downs against lowly TCU.”

Sallee has also found two other college football picks he loves, including a strong play on an underdog he believes has a great chance to win outright. You ABSOLUTELY need to see who it is before locking in any college football picks.

Here are Barrett Sallee’s picks and write-ups for Week 5 (picks made on Sept. 29):

AUBURN +6.5
AUBURN @ GEORGIA | 10/03 | 7:30 PM ET

Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett IV has limited upside and I’ll believe that JT Daniels is going to play when I see it. Meanwhile, Auburn made tremendous halftime adjustments in the win over Kentucky. All Auburn has to do is get to 20 on the stout Georgia defense to not only cover, but win outright.

College Football Picks Week 5

OKLAHOMA -7
OKLAHOMA @ IOWA ST. | 10/03 | 7:30 PM ET

Really? We’re so down on the Sooners that we’re only going to lay a touchdown against an offensively-challenged Cyclones squad? Don’t buy into that trap. Sure, Oklahoma’s defense is dreadful. But I’m not going to believe that the Cyclones suddenly figured it out after gaining just 423 yards and a 3 of 11 performance on third downs against lowly TCU.

SMU +2.5
MEMPHIS @ SMU | 10/03 | 2:30 PM ET

It seems like Memphis hasn’t played in a year and SMU has dropped 50 or more points in each of the last two games. Will the Tigers defense have enough to slow down a Mustangs offense led by Shane Buechele and a bevy of talented skill players? Nope. The absence of Kenny Gainwell will come back to haunt the Tigers.
